Welcome to Reiko Shimokawa official website.

Reiko Shimokawa, is a recipient of numerous awards including 2nd prize at the 8th Pacific Piano competition in Canada (2002) and Musical Activity Award from Yamaha Music Foundation in Japan (2001). Her international appearances include Schumann piano concerto with Budapest Concert Orchestra in Hungary (1999), “DEBUT” series at CBC Radio 2 (2001) and Trio Con Spirito with Violinist Toru Tagawa and Flutist Chieko Konishi Louie (2006) in Vancouver, Canada. She was a judge member of 150th Anniversary of the Opening Port of Yokohama piano competition, Japan (2009). Her recent performances include Mendelsshon-Haus concert in Leipzig, Germany (2011), Autumn Concert Tour in B.C. where she gave a lecture & recital of Mendelsshon at UVic, Canada (2011),International Music Festival in Nałęczów, Poland (2012), Chopin piano concerto No.1 with Mozart Chamber Orchestra at Izumi Hall, Japan (2013), Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1 with Tucson Repertory Orchestra in Tucson, Arizona USA (2014). She holds Bachelor of Music from Royal College of Music, Post graduate certificates from Trinity College of Music and Guildhall school of Music and Drama in England, Master of Music from University of Victoria, Diploma in Music Performance from UBC in Canada. Her world renowned teachers include Dr.Sara Davis Buechner, Lee Kum Sing, Ronan Magill, Paul Roberts, Masahiro Saito, and Bruce Vogt. Her 2 CDs has been released in Japan, entitled “In earth’s many colored dream” and “Tunes of Clowns”.
